The Establishment
A book about the British Political System from a single  view, that highlights the influences that global corporates have on government politicians.
I chose the barcode in the design of the parliament building as the barcode represents modern business well. It would have been easy and unoriginal to use a London bus or the pound sign.
The hands represents the consumer or everyday man who is trapped in the system between global business and governmental decisions.
Norwegian Wood
Created upon the idea of conflicting emotions.  Love and happiness, versus a tragic and more human story.
I had hoped to capture these two aspects, with the colours of blue and yellow. Both colours compliment each other well but also both colours represent the opposite spectrum of moods.
Yellow naturally a cheerful emotion and blue being melancholy feeling-this is also shown in Picasso's art. The use of flowers representing joy and happiness.
I didn't want the crux of the book's story to be obvious to passers-by and so I chose to obscure this by hiding the  ominous nature of the book on the left corner. The meaning revealed only when the book is opened up to reveal the back cover, spine and the front together.
The use of such a basic and simple font was not only to focus the reader on the colours and flowers but to also represent the three aspects of being: life, love; death.
