Goodnight Mister Tom
In this design, I used linocutting for the bike and the 'Goodnight'. I also wanted to bring in children's handwriting onto the back page, so used bird font and created a font in a naive and childish hand writing to imply a child's influence.
The background is also an original, handmade paper; it gives the cover texture. The contrasting colours of blue and yellow are a favourite of mine, as the yellow pops out and is clearly visible. The linocutting has given the image an authentic, rustic and old impression matching well with the era of the books story.
